Pilot at −50 %: we are now taking on our first customers

When an experienced expert leaves, their knowledge should not

When an expert retires or moves on, their tacit knowledge, everything that was never written down, walks out with them. Enarra Memo (formerly Tarumo) captures it in time. AI interviews the expert for about ten minutes at a time, the expert approves the knowledge cards made from the answers, and from then on any employee gets the answer in the expert's own words.

The bearing is squealing on the rolling line. What do I do?

Published

“Once the squeal starts, the bearing fails in about a week. Fit the spare from the shelf straight away and order a new one: delivery takes ten days.”

The problem

Your most important knowledge is not written down anywhere

Early warning signs on machines, workarounds for exceptions, supplier relationships, the quirks of old systems. This kind of knowledge lives in people's heads, and a company usually notices the loss only when something stops.

“The gearbox squeals a week before the bearing fails. You can hear it on frosty mornings.”
Maintenance
“When the main contract falls through, I call a salesperson I know. He delivers in three days.”
Purchasing
“The nightly job crashes at the turn of the month. The fix command is only in my home directory.”
IT

Fictional examples. Yours will differ, but they are just as unwritten.

Why the usual ways of knowledge transfer fall short

Asking people to document
A busy expert does not write it down and does not know what others do not know.
Handover in the final months
It starts too late, and the knowledge passes to just one person.
Wiki or intranet
It goes out of date, and cannot be found when it is needed.
Consultant interviews
An expensive one-off project whose result ends up in a report.

How it works

Identify, interview, approve, ask

An interview takes the expert about ten minutes at a time. The knowledge is recorded in their own words, and nothing is published until they have approved it.

  1. Identify

A manager records the key people, their areas of expertise and their departure dates. The Risk radar shows whose knowledge is at risk and when, and where to start.

  2. Interview

The AI asks like an experienced mentor. The questions come from the industry's knowledge pack; in maintenance, for example, “Which spare parts must always be on the shelf, and why?” If an answer stays general, the AI asks for detail. The expert answers by typing or dictating, and can listen to the questions read aloud. The interview pace thins out as more is captured: weekly, then every other week, finally monthly.

  3. Approve

The answers become a draft knowledge card. The expert approves, edits or rejects it. Only an approved card is published.

  4. Ask

Anyone asks in plain words and gets an answer in the expert's own words, with the source. If there is no answer, Enarra Memo says so and tells you whose area of expertise the question belongs to. It does not guess.

The Risk radar shows the loss before it happens

  • Each key person is a growth ring: the solid line is experience already captured, the dashed line is still only in their memory.
  • You see the areas of expertise that only one person masters, ordered by departure date. That makes key-person risk visible before anyone has left.
  • The risk describes the loss of expertise, not anyone's performance.
Captured experience Only in the person's memory

Enarra Memo and AI

Knowledge that was never written down cannot be found by any AI

AI learns from what has been written. General language models know public information, and a company's own AI search only finds what is already in your documents. The warning signs and workarounds of your machines are written nowhere, so the AI can only answer from general knowledge.

General AI

Why does the gearbox on rolling line 2 squeal?

Answers from general knowledge: the squeal could come from lubrication, bearings or alignment.

Enarra Memo

Why does the gearbox on rolling line 2 squeal?

“The squeal starts a week before the bearing fails. Fit the spare bearing straight away and order a new one: delivery takes ten days.”

Maintenance manager, approved 3 Sep 2026

Enarra Memo does not compete with general AI. It asks the expert for what has never been written down, and answers only from the cards they have approved, with the source. When there is no answer, Enarra Memo says so instead of guessing.

Trust

The knowledge stays with you, and the expert decides what is published

  • The expert approves every card

Nothing is published without their approval. A card that has not been approved does not show up in search or in the AI's answers.

  • Answers always have a source

The AI answers only from published cards and tells you whose words the answer comes from and when it was recorded.

  • Data is stored in the EU

We commit to keeping servers, database, backups, AI and speech recognition in the EU. Subprocessors and locations are listed in the data processing agreement.

  • Customers' data kept apart

Each organisation's data is kept separate in the application and in the database. Approvals, changes and exports are written to a log.

  • We measure risk, not people

Enarra Memo shows which expertise is in danger of being lost. It does not evaluate, score or compare employees.

  • The interview belongs to the expert

In the service, only the person interviewed sees their interview answers, not administrators or managers. Everyone else sees only the knowledge cards the expert has approved. Enarra Memo's staff access is described in the data processing agreement.

  • Recordings are deleted

When dictation is on, audio is deleted 30 days after transcription by default. An organisation can shorten that or switch audio storage off entirely.

  • The knowledge is yours

You can export the published knowledge cards at any time as Markdown and JSON files. Outdated information is replaced, not deleted: the version history stays.

FAQ

Questions about Enarra Memo

What is Enarra Memo?

Enarra Memo is an online service for companies that captures the tacit knowledge of experts who are retiring or changing jobs. AI interviews the expert briefly and regularly, the expert approves the knowledge cards made from the answers, and any employee then gets the answer in the expert's own words, with its source. Enarra Memo is developed by Enarra Oy, a Finnish company.

What is tacit knowledge?

Tacit knowledge is know-how learned through experience that has never been written down: the early warning signs of machines, workarounds for exceptions, supplier relationships and the quirks of old systems. It is hard to document, because a busy expert does not write it down and does not know what others do not know. That is why it is easily lost when an experienced expert retires or changes jobs. Enarra Memo captures it by interviewing the expert and turning the answers into knowledge cards that the expert approves.

How is Enarra Memo different from a wiki, an intranet or a knowledge base?

A wiki holds only what someone has the time and remembers to write, and its content goes out of date. In Enarra Memo, AI asks the expert questions like an experienced mentor and follows up on general answers, so it also captures knowledge nobody would have thought to ask them to write down. Outdated information is replaced by a corrected version, and the version history stays.

How is Enarra Memo different from general AI such as ChatGPT or Copilot?

General language models know public information, and a company's own AI search finds only what is already written in its documents. They cannot find knowledge that was never written down, so they can only answer from general knowledge. Enarra Memo captures the knowledge from the expert, and its AI answers only from knowledge cards the expert has approved and names the source. If there is no answer, Enarra Memo says so instead of guessing.

Where is Enarra Memo's data stored?

In the EU. We commit to keeping servers, database, backups, AI and speech recognition in the EU, and subprocessors and locations are listed in the data processing agreement. Each customer organisation's data is kept separate, down to the database level.

Who can see the interview answers?

In the service, only the person interviewed. Your organisation's administrators and managers cannot see interview answers. Others see only the knowledge cards the expert has approved for publication: a card that has not been approved does not show up in search or in the AI's answers. Interview texts are handed over only if the law requires it, for example in an authority's investigation. Enarra Memo's named administrators have technical access to the database, which section 9 of the data processing agreement describes.

Does Enarra Memo evaluate employees?

No. Enarra Memo measures the risk of losing expertise, not how people perform. It does not score or compare employees. The EU AI Act classifies AI used to evaluate or monitor workers' performance, or to make decisions about their employment, as high-risk. Enarra Memo does none of these. The Risk radar shows the areas of expertise that have only one expert, sorted by departure date.

How much does Enarra Memo cost?

The price follows the number of key people, and you never pay for employees who only search and ask. The planned packages are Mapping at €4,900 one-off, Standard at €790 / month for up to 15 key people and Extended at €1,900 / month for up to 50 key people. For small companies, Handover costs €1,490 one-off for one departing person. Prices exclude VAT. Our first customers get launch offers: a pilot at 50 % off for up to four months, 33 % off the first year after the pilot and for the first 10 founding customers, and Mapping at €3,000 for the first 10.

Does Enarra Memo suit a small company or a change of ownership?

Yes. For small companies there is the Handover package: three months of interviews and knowledge cards from one departing person for their successor, plus a year of read access, for €1,490 as a one-off fee excluding VAT. It suits a change of ownership or a family succession, when the know-how of the owner or a key person must pass to whoever continues. No separate mapping is needed.

How long is the pilot and what does it take from us?

The pilot takes at most four months: mapping in weeks 1–2, then weekly interviews and finally a summary for management. During the pilot you pay half the chosen package's monthly price and of additional key people if you let us use your name as a reference (33 % off without it), and the pilot mapping costs €1,000. We need a list of key people and their departure dates, and a half-hour interview with the managers during mapping. An expert spends about ten minutes per interview.

Which languages does Enarra Memo support?

Finnish and English. The user interface and interviews work in both languages. The expert answers the interview by typing or dictating.

Can we take our data out of Enarra Memo?

Yes. You can export the published knowledge cards at any time as Markdown and JSON files. The knowledge is yours: outdated information is replaced, not deleted, so the version history stays.

Pilot

Join the pilot

Enarra Memo is in its pilot phase, and we are looking for our first customers. The pilot takes at most four months. The goal: by the end of the pilot you know whose knowledge is at risk, and the first knowledge cards are in use. During the pilot you pay half the chosen package's monthly price and of additional key people if you let us use your name as a reference (33 % off without it), and the pilot mapping costs €1,000.

We need little from you: a list of key people and their departure dates, and a half-hour interview with the managers during mapping. Otherwise the work is done by the experts in their own ten-minute interviews. Pilot terms, including the use of the reference, are agreed in writing.

  1. Weeks 1–2: mapping Identify the key people and critical areas of expertise together with HR and the managers.
  2. From week 3: interviews 5–10 experts start weekly interviews. The first knowledge cards go into use.
  3. End of the pilot: summary A report for management and a plan for how to continue.

Tell us briefly about your organisation and whose knowledge you would like to secure. Send a message with the form or by email. We reply by email.
